Tossed and Turned Tuesday-
Let Me Explain...

First, let me say this is a work in progress..

I've seen Chevron stripes everywhere and have been dying to try it myself. Well come to find out, chevron stripes don't like me very much. Part of the reason I totally messed up on the drawers is I took them inside to paint (too hot out) and didn't line them up correctly. Turns out there are two top drawers and two bottom drawers that only fit in those sections. I learned that the hard way.

It took me forever to get my stripes straight and at that, they were still not perfect. So after taping, painting, etc, I took them outside and WaaaaWaaaaWaaa... they didn't line up.

Oh and I painted the handles Green (Icing from last post) and yep... still not feeling it. After my long, hot day, I gave up, snapped a shot and called it a day.

Here's my work in progress:

Once I realized they didn't line up, I stopped painting (just incase you were wondering why this looks half is).

Interested to hear your take on this. Let me know :)

i think it looks cool and i love the colors! and at least it will just be one drawer on each side to fix- that's not too bad!

Keep on keepin on...I think it will look wonderful once you get your stripes like you want them. I see the brilliance of your plan!

Call me crazy but I love the way it looks now! I like the imperfection of it! Great color choices too!

I love the colours too! I understand your frustration though I am a bit anal about symmetry so totally get that. Nothing a bit of sandpaper and some more time can't fix. Gotta keep working at it till your happy with the final result.

I think you were staring at it too long and it was driving you crazy because I love it! The color and chevron look great, I would never have noticed they didn't line up if you hadn't said anything :)

I see the valuable lesson in numbering the drawers, and making sure each drawer goes back into it's original hole. Thank you for that.

Having said that, I had to scroll up to the "after" pic several times to see what you were pointing out.

I hate it when someone tells me "no one will ever notice that" cuz I am always thinking about what *I* will notice (not everyone else). So I'm a little bit hypocritical in saying this...but here goes anyway. I bet if you put that piece in it's spot in your home, and decorate it with other things, it might not bug you as much.

What's the other option, are you thinking of re-doing it? If it were me, I'd probably slap it in it's spot and call it a day!

I actually love it the way it is!

it looks good so far... keep trying. AND maybe do the handles bright red, orange or pink for a better pop.

I love the idea here. I think it might be interesting to see the stripes actually be wider. once you get the spacing figured out though they will look fantastic!

maybe paint the pulls bronze/gold? I'm digging metalic paints lately and if you can get a good one all the better.

I think if the stripes were wider that would help and look fantastic. Once you get the spacing figured out it will look great though - gorgeous project.

as for the nobs - maybe try a bronze/gold metallic paint? I'm digging metallics lately and they can look really great too if you get a good one.

happy painting!

I Have A Question? Did you try switching the drawers around? Because it looks like if you swapped them around a little you might line up better? Worth a try?

Love all the ideas, haven't gotten back to this project (out of frustration of course) but seriously taking into consideration all the ideas you've all given me.

@chasingWhimsy - The dawers cant can only be swaped for either side (left, right) and they still don't line up very well. Believe me I tried. I'm gonna have to redo the bottom drawers to get them to line up.

These should be on a website called "not better after". haha!

ummm, Rita?! You're being WAY to hard on yourself! I'm in love with it. And I never would have noticed they didn't line up. In fact, I looked at it, read what you wrote about it lining up, and had to look again to see if you were telling the truth.... still hardly noticed... If I steal this idea, I promise to give you the credit!! :)
