Ode to Pets (and furniture)

Because I'm the creative of sorts and as I plowed through old photos, I found that the pets in my life deserved their own poem! So here it goes, and Happy Friday Everyone!

Oh, dearest of pets how you roam,
never doing quite what you are told.

I'd like a picture of this chair if you don't mind.
Tubby, not the side of your lovely behind.

Here's a table that is in need of some work!
So of course, Reese, that's where you'll lurk!

A new desk to fulfill a boy's hopes!
...Hey who taught Kunu the ropes?

I think this angle is a much better view...
...oh crap, got the cats legs passing through!!

Look at these two tables my sister bought.
...ugh, will someone get the dogs out of my shot!

I'll have to scootch Tubby from side to side.
It's worth it right? That my arms just died.

Reese, you are the fairest indeed,
Just get out of my pictures...PLEASE!

So dear pets this poem is to say,
I love you but get out of my way.
and the next time I find you on my table top
you've been are soon to be cropped!

Tossed And Turned Tuesday - WRITERS BLOCK

This post is dedicated to real life. What I mean is that this table is not yet finished so I contemplated using the "I was too busy this weekend" excuse so that I wouldn't have to show my incomplete table.

But then I thought...this is real life...I'm a real working woman...I don't have to pretend to be this perfect person that gets one project done a week now do I? I have teenagers, a husband, pets, prior engagements, commitments and hormones people.

So this Tossed and Turned Tuesday is a work in progress. Here is my unfinished CORAL table. Leave me suggestions on what it needs since I'll still be working on it.

Kunu - our cat!!

Meet Kunu...our newest family member.

Kunu was a stray cat that found his way into our lives (just like they all do). Now I must say I'm highly allergic to animals and my family, bless their hearts, are not. So we end up in situations where if they live and breathe and don't have a home, they end up with us.

I don't mind (the dogs) but the'm still on the fence. Of course I'll be sneezing and have itchy eyes on this damn fence...but family is happy...right?

This picture is of Kunu on Sammy's lap. They are in love!

I know who can resist that face, huh? (me that's who)

I have to admit I tried to get rid of him but he kept coming back and Tubby cried. See what I mean. Tubby is fascinated by him.

Now in case you're wondering here is a little Q&A about me and Kunu:

Q: Are you a cat person at all?
A: No, never have been.

Q: Are your allergies flaring up from the cat hair:
A: No for some odd reason. I keep waiting for them to overcome me but nothin'.

Q: Were you hoping that they would so you could lose the cat?
A: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't welcoming the idea. But then again when I told my family they were going to kill me with him...they didn't seem to care...but I'm not bitter.

Q: Do you think it's a sign from God that you are not allergic to Tubby or Kunu?
A: I definitely think there is some divine intervention going on here!!

Q: Does Kunu seem to sense your dislike and stay away?
A: Not at all. He comes right up to my face and puts his nose to my cheek. When I go to bed he tries to come to my pillow. He has a death wish I think.

Q: Do the dogs all get along?
A: NO...Tubby is fascinated by him. He loves to watch him. Reese on the other hand... not so much. She told me the other day that she'll allow him in her house on her terms and only because he's a boy. In her eyes, Kunu is more competition for Tubby, thus leaving her to be alpha girl and still in charge. Oh and he can't sleep anywhere Reese sleeps. He is forbidden.

Q: Do you think Kunu will find his way into your heart?
A: Yeah suffice to say, I have a big heart when it comes the neglected, even if they come in cat form.

Thanks again for stopping by.

Thrown Away Thursday ~ Floral Table~

Does this not remind you of a flower?

My mom gave me this table along with the high boy from the previous post. Her friend was getting rid of both tables.

I'm hoping the weather acts right so I can take this table on, but who knows with Texas weather. I just hope I'll have a post for Tuesday!

Hope you have a great Easter!

Tossed and Turned Tuesday- High Boy

After much deliberation, I decided that this table had a subtle look to it and it needed to stay that way. No bright colors for this guy. I put up my patterned paper, colored oops paint and my Dremel tool. Instead, I painted it a soft gray and darkened the handle a bit, and called it a day. oh... almost forgot, I lined the drawer with fabric scraps :)

Sometimes "simple" is all you need.

** Side note, I met someone who is helping me with a website. I'm so excited. I'll let you know when it's up and running!!

As always, Thank you for stopping by and checking out my treasures!

Thrown Away Thursday ~ High Boy~

Meet the highboy my mom brought over to me that her friend was about to get rid of. She did good, huh!! It's solid and tall. Oh the possibilities...(she says as she twists her fists and intertwines her hands in the most cunning of ways)... See ya later, Rita :)

Tossed And Turned Tuesday - Devine Damask!

Happy Tuesday! Yeah I wish it was Friday too but if you look at the bright side of things...Tuesday means you get to see the after of my "Thrown away Thursday" project, right???
(I'm hoping I got a smile or a 'yay' out there in blog land)

Who'd of thought these tables could be so stunning!!
I painted these 'before' tables light gray and then stenciled an even lighter gray damask onto them. I have to say a few people have said that they look like something they've seen on the Nate Burkus show. That just gives me warm fuzzies!! I can't even tell you!!

Hope I didn't dissapoint!! Come back Thursday for my next project.

Thrown Away Thursday ~ Andrea's Find~

I've mentioned my sister Andrea before. She's the one that just moved and I'm helping her find odds and ends to furnish her house. Well the other day she brought me these two end tables she picked up for ten bucks at a garage sale and asked if I could do anything with them. OF COURSE!!

If you're dying to see what they look like'll have to wait to see them on Tuesday (you know the rules)!

See you then!

The Regal Chair

Not my usual Tuesday/Thursday post but I just felt like blogging today. Actually I feel like venting but blogging about something I love to do will work for now~

Introducing this chair I found at a thrift store the other day. I love the character this chair has. The guy at the counter who sold it to me had this look like "are you sure you want this ugly chair"? It's funny the looks I get from people who don't really know me. I look at piles of trash and you'd think I found a pot of gold!! It wasn't hard to transform this chair into this with left over paint and fabric I had from Dana's chair, not to mention I didn't spend extra for it either. I'm all about frugal, people!! This picture shows the color of the fabric better: and I'm not a leg person either but look at these will you?? I mean ...simply gorgeous! Ok, that's it for my post for today...OH except for ONE LAST THING!!

I met a girl at junkadoodle and we got to talking about her dog rescue and how I have two rescue dogs. She gave me her card which was SO cute. It's a cartoon character of her in a dog suit. Cute huh? Anyway if your interested in rescuing a dog, cause we all know there are dogs in desperate need of rescuing, cats too, go check her out. If she's not in your area, she can help you find a local rescue group. I love people who love to help!!

Check her out or leave her a comment.

As always, Thanks!!

Tossed and Turned Tuesday- Bottom's Up!

So how's that for weaving?? I honestly don't know the first thing about weaving , heck I don't even sew, so if you're wondering how I came up with this weaved bottom, it's years of lacing shoes!! Again, here is the bottomless chair before: Also, I wanted to thank everyone who made it out to Junkadoodle on Saturday! It was very sweet of you to come out and support me. I even had a blog buddy come by which was totally awesome!! I REALLY, REALLY appreciate you and hope you had a good time out there! Thanks again, Rita
