Ashley's Orange Accents - Part 1

Pardon me if I sound like a hostess to a TV show but I just watched Design Star and I get very involved. So let me get started...

Have you ever looked at a boring blah room and thought...man, you need some color. But the room is rather big and the task is very daunting, not to mention this room is for the teen in your life who thinks that ORANGE is the new BLACK! Well rather than live with orange walls in a rather large room we decided to meet in the middle by adding orange accents to the room.

Now the good thing is that having a mother with an eye for junk (wink~) I pick up rather cool eclectic odds and ends here and there. I may not know quite what to do with them at the time BUT they somehow always find a purpose in my home.

I bought this two dollar mirror a while back. It's plastic and gaudy and not very pretty. The mirror was a bit stained and the back a bit warped.

Since Ashely already has sliding mirror doors to her closet an additional mirror wasn't needed so I bought a 95 cent dry erase board, painted it black and now she has a magnetic memo board. I spray painted the mirror in orange to add a nice accent to her room~!

The chair was a garage sale find for $2.00 and pillows were thrift store finds for a couple of dollars as well. (washed of course)
The second accent piece to her room were small planters turned organizers painted with chalkboard paint and left over orange oops paint~!

Total cost of these two combined projects was less than $10.00.
Not bad for adding a punch of orange without breaking the bank.
I'll be adding more later so stay tuned.
