Angie's TV Stand
This was a really cool project to do. I bought this TV stand at a garage sale the other day and showed some friends of mine since it was a really good solid piece(very heavy!).
A friend (and co-worker)Angie, found a use for it at her new home so I custom painted it to fit her and her boyfriend's style.
She asked for it to be black and distressed, but no crackle finish! Her boyfriend likes red so I added some red touches to show through the distressed areas. This is the final result. She hasn't even seen it yet so I'm crossing my fingers that it is what she wants!

Patio Table
thought I'd spruce up the small table that sits on the deck. I'd painted it black at first but with the passing seasons, it's looking pretty dreary. I though it needed to look a llittle more cheerful so I created a color (mixed about four) to come up with something that would match some pillows I had.
I love the way it looks for the season.

Vintage with a Modern Twist~
Love these little chairs! I bought them at a garage sale and the man said they belonged to his grandmother and were at least as old as he was, which was atleast 50ish. I liked them in red however I really thought they'd look best in blue. My dilema: I couldn't decide to make them look new or keep the vintage worn out look so I decided on BOTH! After painting them blue I sanded them down so some red would show through.
This lovely pair is for sale! Let me know if they belong in your home.

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
Although it wasn't my type of movie, Ashley wanted me to watch Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium with her, so we did. There was a quote I was perticularly fond of that when spoken by Dustin Hoffman and all his magical spleandor, I liked enough to share with you. My recomendation for the movie however, only see it if your child makes you. Unless you like seeing Rain Man with wild hair and eyebrows, colorful scenes, and lots of magic. It was actually a cute movie.
Have a good Week!

QUOTE:
"When King Lear dies in Act V, do you know what Shakespeare has written? He's written "He dies." That's all, nothing more. No fanfare, no metaphor, no brilliant final words. The culmination of the most influential work of dramatic literature is "He dies." It takes Shakespeare, a genius, to come up with "He dies." And yet every time I read those two words, I find myself overwhelmed with dysphoria. And I know it's only natural to be sad, but not because of the words "He dies." but because of the life we saw prior to the words.I've lived all five of my acts, and I am not asking you to be happy that I must go. I'm only asking that you turn the page, continue reading... and let the next story begin."

Disney World Plaque
There's a sign posted at Disney World that reads:
"HERE YOU LEAVE TODAY AND ENTER THE WORLD OF YESTERDAY, TOMORROW AND FANTASY".
What amazes me is that saying changes the people who walk through Disney World
gates. They do just what the sign tells them to do. They leave reality behind and become what their heart tells them to become. If I walked through those gates, I'd leave behind stress of work, my everyday aches and pains, my bils, my headaches, etc. Instead I'd laugh and play with my kids, I'd take in all the fantastic sights because tomorrow I may have to go home, I wouldn't be stressed out because I'd be enjoying myself too much, and I'd take lots of pictures so I'd never forget how I felt exactly at that moment.
Can you imagine how I'd feel everyday if that sign were hanging above my the door way in my house? It makes me think I should.
Hope you have a good week,
~Rita

My Plain 'ol Basket
I've been really sick lately and haven't touched any of my projects...however...in order to curb my appetite for creativity, I painted a basket I found at a garage sale a few weeks ago. It took five minutes and some left over white spray paint.
I know...I know...wow...big deal... but hey, it got my butt out of bed and gave my bathroom a little character. Or at least I think so. What do you think?

The Sweet Spot Motto!
I found this inspirational quote on a blog I started following called "The Sweet Spot". It was inspiring to me how she could be so pasionate about her beliefs. I was just in awe.
I loved the introduction to this blog and because I love to keep inspirational quotes near by and refence back to them when I need to, I wanted to post a copy of it here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
"The Cure for the Common Life" by Max Lucado
"God gave you... a zone, a region, a life precinct in which you were made to dwell. He tailored the curves of your life to fit an empty space in His jigsaw puzzle. And life makes sweet sense when you find your spot. Look back over your life. What have you consistently done well? What have you loved to do? Stand at the intersection of your affections and successes and find your uniqueness. You have one. A divine spark. An uncommon call to an uncommon life.Don’t worry about skills you don’t have. Don’t covet strengths others have. Just extract your uniqueness. And do so to . . . make a big deal out of God. Everything comes from Him . . . and exists for Him. We exist to exhibit God, to display His glory. We serve as canvases for His brush stroke, papers for His pen, soil for His seeds, glimpses of His image.Sweet spot. You have one... You can do something in a manner that no one else can.And when you find it and do it, another sweet spot is discovered..."

"After's" before there was a camera to take the "Before's"
So before I started taking pictures of my trash to treasures, I dabbled in painting things I found on curbs on bulk trash day. No I didn't dumpster dive, or dig around through peoples trash. If I saw something that looked totally awesome sitting on the curb ready for the trashman to pick up, I would load it up in my car. I can't tell you how many times Sammy would come home and there would be yet another old chair, or table, or even a piece of furniture that I just KNEW I could do SOMETHING with, there on the floor as soon as he opened the front door.
I didn't have a camera then to take pictures of what I started with so today's post are a couple of things that still sit around my house that were once junk, until I worked my magic on them. I don't have before photos but I promise you didn't miss much.
Thanks again for letting me share my photos with you. Since this blog, I've had friends ask me to help them out with projects they've had sitting around their houses. I can't tell you how excited I am to tackle them, not to mention honored that they would ask me. I appreciate it, really.
So this is it for the daily posts. I'll be adding new photos as I finish them and will continue to do my "Inspiration Sunday" to get you off on a good note for the new week.
Thanks again for the feedback and requests.

Ashley's Desk
...and to go along with "The Green Chair" (see yesterday's post), here is Ashley's desk. I found this desk at a garage sale in great condition. Other than some water stains and scratches, it was a perfect fit in her room. You can't tell from the photos but I lined the drawer with the same fabric that I used to cover the chair so that it matched. And the flower on the side is my redition of a flower not a slice of an orange as I've been asked.

The Green Chair
This is one of my earlier projects but one of my favorites none the less. This $2.00 chair was painted, recovered and now looks great with Ashley's desk ( I'm posting the desk tomorrow).

"This post is about following your dreams. Doing what you love. Being happy EVERY DAY...and NO MORE MONDAYS. Make your career about what you love and not what you love to hate. That there is no more dread on Sunday night. No more waiting for Friday to arrive. No more Mondays."
